Digital-lending rules upheld

In July the Federal High Court in Lagos dismissed WASPAN's challenge and upheld the FCCPC's DEON digital-lending Regulations, allowing enforcement to resume. The association has since appealed, so the boundary between FCCPC and NCC oversight remains one to watch.

NUPRC unveiled the winners of the 2025 Licensing Round on 21 July 2026, 31 companies for 37 oil and gas blocks, and on 18 September issued a “Drill-or-Drop” circular warning holders of non-performing petroleum prospecting licences that they risk forfeiting acreage, with a 31 October compliance deadline.
